My Descendants Fan Fic idea (it has over twenty chapters but ... writers block)
Tayla and Nic (children from Tiana and Naveen) are asked to help Ben organize the arrival of the Core Four.
Tayla, being the older one (and heir to Maldonia) helps without hesitation but Nic is a little unsure.
A Day after the preparations, Nic goes missing.
Tayla befriends the Four. She helps them and talks to them, when Mal has the wand at the coronation.
When Mal goes back to the isle in D2, Tayla comes with them. The isle is horrible in her eyes and when the others are trying to talk to Mal, Tayla gets kidnapped alongside Ben.
The separate Tayla and Ben and Tayla can convince two mice to open the ropes around her wrists. She tries to escape while "It's goin Down" but it works not as well and Uma trades her for Mals Spellbook.
At the cotillion, Tayla talks (maybe a little aggressive) with Uma. With one wave, she gets pushed and suddenly she's a frog, like her parents were.
The good fairy gives Tayla a crystal from Atlantis, to habe the curse under control and time flies by.
The VK-Day arrives. While the Cour Four and Ben have the whole festival on their hands, Tayla and a few others (Lonnie and two other OCs) try to find Hades Amber. It could lift Taylas curse because the crystal gets weaker with every second.
They don't find it, but the Pirates find the limousine and terrify them a bit, before our AKs drive back to the festival.
After Hades tries to escape and Mal fighting him, they drive with the new VKs to Auradon. Mal and Tayla sit a little longer in the car and Tayla uses the crystal to give Mal energy. (Mal is unhappy about it, because they can't lift Taylas curse and the energy of the crystal is the only thing holding Taylas human form)
Ben proposes to Mal and Tayla is happy for them! But she sees a sad Audrey sitting on a nearby bench and walks over to comfort her. First, Audrey is happy until she sees Taylas Outfit (full VK style, because she wanted to fit on the isle). Audrey shouts at Tayla for being only on the VKs side and now making fun of her before she stomps of.
Jane's Birthday is there and Tayla helps them making preparations but the bad Audrey appears and puts Mal under the old hag spell.
While Mal, Carlos and Jay are with Celia and her father, Tayla and Evie wait outside (because of bad memories). They see two boys, trying to steal the bikes and interrupt them. The older one talks but the younger one seems familiar to Tayla. Harry appears and scares the boys away. The one boy says something and suddenly Tayla realizes. That boy was her brother!
Tayla wants to go after him, but she doesn't want Harry to be alone with Evie. Harry, the first time alone (without other pirates) is changed after Tayla tells him about her brother. That she is trying to find him for over seven months now. That she doesn't want to believe he could be dead.
Harry starts talking to himself. That he should have known Auradon isn't perfect. That he could stopped her. He then tells Tayla about Harriet, his sister. That she believed in Auradon would everything be better, so she stole a boat and tried to get out. That her dad found her boat and she was dead. Tayla hugs him and Harry feels a warmth in him for the first time since many years.
Gil comes while he is searching for Harry. He says, that nic told him, Harry was here. Tayla asked him, if he knows, where nic is now and a few minutes later, Tayla sits with Harry on one bike, while Gil is on the other showing them the way.
The other VKs see them drive of and Jay tries to go after them but fails. Tayla feels bad for betraying her friends but she has to find her brother.
In an old house, Tayla sees the two boys trying to escape on the roofs. Tayla jumps after them and runs as fast as she can while shouting Nics Name. She hears Harry and Gil behind her and sees the two boys stopping in front of her.
Hope catches her and she runs faster.
Then she falls. The roof beneath her feet was not stable enough for her steps and she fell right through it.
Her ankle is hurting bad and it takes a few seconds before everyone stands around the hole and tries to talk to Tayla.
Gil, Nic and the other boy climbe down the roof and search for a door, while Harry jumps through the hole.
First, Tayla can't stand up, but she remembers the rule of the isle. No bad magic. She uses the Atlantic crystal to heal herself.
She talks with Nic but soon she realizes that she should meet with her friends again to get of the isle. She has to leave Nic behind.
Tayla, Harry and Gil come to the barrier but her friends are already through.
Audrey appears in front of the Cour Four and sees Tayla behind the barrier. She uses her new magic to get Tayla through it, but she takes Harry and Gil with her.
It feels horrible getting through the barrier, but Tayla tries to resonate with Audrey while going towards her. She wants to take maleficent cepter but Audrey doesn't fall for it.
Audrey puts a spell an Tayla. Tayla falls of the little bridge and into the ocean.
What do you think? How could it continue?

Never Should’ve Let You Go (Harry Hook x reader)
=““
Tumblr media
My first Harry Hook x reader!!! I don’t know if anyone’s even going to read this but it was fun to write. :)
summary: y/n returns to the Isle of the lost to help save Ben with the vk’s and Lonnie, she tries convincing Harry to go back with her with no success and after that she thinks that she’ll never see him again. Months later Harry successfully jumps through the barrier with Gil to find Auradon under a sleeping curse.
word count: 2,314
“Hey, can you pass me that book?” y/n asked Harry, he threw it to her watching as she packed for Auradon. y/n was one of the vk’s that had been chosen to attend Auradan prep-to say she was excited was an understatement. It was her dream to go there.
“You goin’ ta miss me lassie?” Harry asked with his infamous grin.
“Of course, who else is going to call me lassie?“ She asked, imitating his accent while saying the word ‘lassie’.
Harry chuckled before dropping his smile “How long is this goin ta last?” He asked. The truth was he was scared of being separated from y/n for so long-terrified even, she was one of the few things that made the isle more bearable-but he’d never admit it. He was too prideful. He was pretty sure that he was in love with her.
“It’s only for a little while.” She told him, getting closer to the boy. “There’s a plan to steal the fairy godmother’s wand and take down the barrier.” She whispered, “We’ll see each other soon.”
“hmm” He thought, wrapping his arms around y/n pretending to think. “Ok, don’ you keep me waitin’ too long.” He told her resting his forehead against hers. He tried to kiss her but y/n pecked the corner of his mouth before backing up. “Always a tease.” He complained, making y/n laugh.
“I’ll see you soon.” y/n said once more but before she could leave, Harry caught her wrist, pulling her back and planting his lips on hers-capturing her in a passionate kiss.
“Don’t be gone fer too long.” He told her, bringing her into a hug.
“I-”
“y/n! Get down here already!“ A voice came from downstairs.
“That’s my cue.“ she said kissing Harry’s cheek. She backed up, holding his hand and let go once she was a few steps away. “Don’t miss me too much.“ She joked.
“I’m more worried about you.“ Harry shouted back once she was out the door, he smiled to himself when he heard her laugh-secretly wishing that he could go with her.
(days later)
“Harry y/n’s on tv.“ Gil shouted, pointing to the small screen behind the counter. Harry had just walked into Ursula's Fish and Chips, but once he caught a glance of y/n on the tv he walked over quickly to watch. “Oh the wand!” Gil exclaimed with a mouth full of food, “didn’t you say that-”
“Shut ye mouth!” He snapped, raising his hook in the air. ‘This is it’, he thought. Once Mal grabbed the wand. ‘The barriers coming down’.
Then Maleficent showed up and the vk’s changed their minds-betraying their parents trust and crushing Harry’s hopes.
And the rest of the isle kids were still stuck on the isle.
(present time)
y/n stood behind Mal watching as her friend and Uma argued. Her eyes scanned the pirate ship-recognizing a few faces before seeing Harry with Ben on the plank. “Mal, whatever you do it’s gonna be a lose-lose, there’s gotta be a better way!” Ben’s voice rang out. Harry and y/n made eye contact for a moment before she turned away.
In truth Harry felt betrayed-y/n had hurt him more than anyone ever had. She had promised before that the wand would be taken and the barrier taken down, but it seemed that she had changed her mind-choosing to stay with her friends and have a perfect life in Auradon-dooming Harry and everyone else that was still stuck on the Isle. “Silly king!” Uma yelled out-ripping Harry away from his thoughts-“You? Give me? You're gonna give me a chance? Well, not a chance!”
After a little while longer the wand had been handed over and turned up being a fake-that’s when the fighting between the two sides began. y/n was on the ground with a pirate pointing their sword at her-when the sword was knocked out of their hand. Jay helped the girl up, pushing the pirate off of the ledge and into the water. “You ok?” He asked and she nodded, taking the sword that he held out to her. “I know this is hard for you.” He told her-referring to Harry, “try to stay up here.”
Well she had tried, but she was now closer to the ship than she had intended-trying to get to the exit where her friends were. “y/n!” Harry’s voice came from behind her. She looked over-spotting the pirate struggling to get out of the water.
“y/n come on!” Mal shouted from somewhere behind.
y/n ignored her friend, reaching down to take Harry’s hand and help him back onto the wooden dock. He looked up at her and the two stared at each other for a moment. “Come with us.” y/n said out of nowhere, making Harry chuckle. “I’m serious.” She pleaded.
“I’m not leavin’ Uma and Gil behind.” He told her before sadly adding “not like you left us.”
Her mouth opened in disbelief, “Harry I-”
“y/n!” Jay’s voice rang out, “come on!”
y/n looked back to her friends. “Stay.” Harry said, taking y/n’s hand. “Stay with me.” His blue eyes were pleading and this was the most vulnerable y/n had ever seen the boy. She put her other hand over his, squeezing it.
“I can’t.” She whispered.
“y/n!” Jay called again.
“Harry you can come with us, Uma and Gil and everyone else too. Come with me..” She begged holding his hand, he let go looking down. “Please.” y/n whimpered-feeling tears well up in her eyes. “We can have a better life in Auradon-a happy life please....I love you.” That was the first time either of them had said that.
He silently watched her for a moment, looking at the ground-he didn’t have to say his answer.
y/n’s eyebrows furrowed as she bit her lip. “Harry...?” She asked with a breaking voice, “Harry.”
“Yer friends are callin’ ye.“ He croaked. “Just leave-it’s what yer good at.“
“But...“
“y/n!“ It was Carlos’s turn to shout her name this time. y/n looked back to her friends then to Harry-debating what to do. A purple color bomb came out of nowhere suddenly-blocking everyone’s vision. When it cleared y/n was gone.
Harry had lost her a second time.
(months later)
“Don’t worry Jane, I’m sure Carlos will be here.“ y/n told her friend, putting a hand on her shoulder. “He’s probably just running late.”
Jane glanced at her friend, offering a nervous smile.
Carlos however was going back to the isle with the other vks, but y/n of course didn’t know since she arrived extra early to Jane’s party to help with decorations, and the vk’s were in a rush to get Hade’s ember.
“I just don’t don’t get what’s taking him so long...“ Jane said with worry, “are there birthday parties on the isle?”
“um..“ y/n glanced at her friend “if by birthday party you mean eating stolen cake with dirt and flies then yes...“ She chuckled, making Jane giggle as well.
“um y/n?“ Jane asked staring up the hill.
y/n looked to where Jane was starring, gasping when she saw a pink mist covering the place. It started to make it’s way down to where the two girls stood. “Don’t let her see you!” y/n warned her friend upon seeing Audrey.
“The enchanted lake! Come on!” Jane told y/n, taking hold of her wrist and pulling her towards the direction of the water.
“I don’t know how to swim.”
“It’s fine-we just need to get deep enough to bend down into the water.” Jane reassured her. y/n nodded, submerging into the lake. They waited a few moments until Audrey disappeared before coming back up.”Was that Audrey?” Jane asked with a mix of confusion and worry.
“With maleficent’s staff.”
“And the crown!”
“We need to warn people!” y/n told Jane, getting out of the water.
“Let me just fill this water gun up with the lake water. Who knows, we might need it.”
“Knowing the vk’s, they’re probably on top of this already.” y/n told Jane-who had just finished filling up the water gun. “Come on, we should go look for them.”
The two wandered around the woods for a while before making it to Evie’s cottage, “Let’s check here.” Jane told y/n, she nodded in agreement.
With a bobby pin from Jane’s hair, y/n picked the lock after nobody answered the door. “I think that Doug was here-“ The door opened, revealing Audrey standing in the cottage-scepter in hand, with Chad beside her. On instinct y/n swung the door open wider-hiding Jane from Audrey’s view. “Audrey you don’t have to do this!” y/n told the girl, staying put, “just wake everyone up and I promise-”
“Promise me what?” Audrey snapped, “There’s nothing you can possibly offer me that I want!”
“Audrey.” y/n said carefully “I don’t know why you’re doing this, but you can fix it.”
“I don’t want to fix it!” She hissed, “I’m having the time of my life.” She added with a laugh, “you on the other hand, won’t be so lucky. Chad let’s go!” She boomed.
“Wait Au-” but it was too late. Audrey hit the scepter against the floor board and began to teleport. “Sweet dreams...” Her fading voice cackled.  The same pink mist from earlier surrounded y/n, making it’s way to her.
“y/n!“ Jane called out, taking a step closer.
“No!“ y/n yelled, throwing her arms out to stop Jane from getting to close. “don’t waste the water on me-“ Then she fell to the ground asleep and the pink mist disappeared.
“y/n!“ Jane yelled, rushing to her friend’s side. She looked around in a panic wanting to cry. She took a deep breath, closing her eyes and stood up. “Don’t worry y/n.” She whispered, “I’m going to drag you into the house and then find everyone else.”
It didn’t take long for Jane to lay y/n on a couch. She had just carefully laid y/n’s head on a pillow when she heard a roar coming from the woods. She had followed it and found Carlos, Jay two other boys she didn’t recognize, and Ben in beast form. She didn’t have to think twice before spraying him with the water from the enchanted lake. After a happy reunion with Carlos Jay spoke up, “Jane do you know where Audrey went?”
“No but y/n-”
At the mention of y/n, Harry’s head snapped to look at her. “ye know y/n?”
“...Yeah.” Jane nodded, “she’s my friend.”
“That’s Harry and Gil.” Jay told Jane and she nodded.
“What about y/n?” Carlos asked.
“She’s under the sleeping curse.“ Jane explained, “Audrey showed up out of nowhere and cursed her before leaving!”
“y/n’s under the sleepin’ curse?” Harry almost yelled. Normally he didn’t act emotional, but he was worried now.  “Where?”
“At Evie’s cottage.” Jane said, “come on.” The group made it to Evie’s cottage with no trouble, finding the girls there too. They had their short reunion and Mal ran into Ben’s arms. Harry however went straight for the door.
“Where is she?” He asked almost losing his temper. Uma knew exactly what he was talking about and nodded her head towards the cottage, leading the way.
Harry froze for a second after seeing y/n fast asleep on a couch. He creeped forward-as if a sudden movement would disturb her. “I should’ve been here.” He whispered, kneeling down beside her. “I’m sorry-I drove you away and now yer-”
“Hey Harry.” Gil called from the doorway.
“Can’t ye see I’m havin’ a moment?” Harry yelled to the boy.
“Well yeah but...why don’t you try kissing her?” He asked.
“An’ why would I do that?” Harry asked looking up aggrivated.
“Well you know..true loves kiss.” Gil told him with a smile as if it were obvious. “Uma said it works every time.”
“It does.” Uma said from beside Gil.
“Well it won’t work this time.” Harry whispered.
“Why not?” Gil asked confused, “don’t you love her?”
“Course I love her!” Harry snapped, looking back down at y/n. “But she’s gotta love me too, and I doubt she does after how I acted-I hurt her.”
“She hurt you too, but you still love her.” Gil said.
“Why don’t you just try?” Jay asked.
“I can’t.” Harry told the boy, “what if it doesn’t work?” He closed his eyes-he didn’t think he could bare it if it didn’t work.
“She loves you.” Jay told the pirate, “I don’t know why since you’re kind of a jerk-” he stopped talking when Harry glared at him. “But she does and I don’t think she’ll ever stop.”
“If you don’t try you’ll never know.” Uma told him, patting Gil’s shoulder as a hint to leave.
Once they were alone Harry looked down at y/n sighing. He pulled a strand of her back with his hand, softly caressing her cheek. “Please work.” He whispered. He leaned down closing his eyes and pressed his lips against hers softly.
Nothing happened.
Harry looked away sadly, “I’m sorry lass.” He said-about to cry.
But he didn’t see her eyes flutter open. “Harry?” y/n asked confused, Harry’s head snapped in her direction and his mouth opened in shock before a smile formed on his lips.
“y/n!” He exclaimed, wrapping his arms around the girl. “It worked!”
y/n hugged him back laughing, “what-what are you doing here?”
“I jumped through the barrier before it closed.” He laughed resting his forehead against hers. “I love ye y/n, more than anything.”
y/n smiled, wrapping her arms around his neck again, “I love you too.”

in your safety: a tarlos fic
A thought crosses his mind and he finds himself grabbing on to it. He carefully moves up in his bed, turning on the side lamp sitting on his nightstand. He grabs his phone and opens a recent text thread. TK: [11:17 PM] Are you awake?
TK can’t really sleep after he’s discharged from the hospital. One night, he goes searching for comfort and a shoulder to lean on. He finds both.
A 1.09 missing scene.
for bad things happen bingo: tarlos + insomnia
emotional hurt/comfort, hurt/comfort, angst, comfort, fluff, worried carlos reyes, cuddles, soft kisses, tk strand needs a hug, missing scene
2.8k | on ao3
*****
TK is no stranger to insomnia.
He’s been dealing with it on and off since his parents’ divorce, trying to come to terms with it. It was hard at first, he’d find himself lying wide awake in bed, thoughts racing as he tossed and turned, sleep never finding him. Other days he’d have a hard time waking up, or he’d wake up exhausted, almost like he didn’t sleep at all.
It got better with time, though. Some remedies helped along the way, as well as talking to his dad about it and working through some of the thoughts that had kept him wide awake, lurking in the depth of his mind.
TK would say he’s been doing better overall, aside from a few nights here and there where sleep had proven to be difficult or he’d be restless, he’d come a long way since he was a little kid.
Until he got shot. And for the nights following his release from the hospital, he found himself transported back to when he was seven years old, staring up at the ceiling. He can’t even burn off the restless and anxious energy with tossing and turning due to the stitches in his still-sore chest.
It doesn’t take a genius to connect the dots between the shooting and the insomnia TK is experiencing. He can’t remember the events, but there is still something nagging at him in his gut, keeping him awake. Keeping his mind switched on.
TK would sometimes find Owen still awake after a round of fitful sleep and they’d talk about anything, falling into a light conversation that would help ease TK’s mind and quieten his thoughts.
But TK had convinced Owen to go back to work once he was settled at home, and Owen was currently halfway into a twenty-four hour shift. TK isn’t the biggest fan of Owen’s well-meant hovering, it sometimes making him climb the walls, but if the firefighter was also being completely honest, the house is too lonely and silent for his liking in this moment. He could use a little bit of comfort or someone to talk to.
A thought crosses his mind and he finds himself grabbing on to it. He carefully moves up in his bed, turning on the side lamp sitting on his nightstand. He grabs his phone and opens a recent text thread.
TK: [11:17 PM] Are you awake?
TK places his phone next to him, worrying his bottom lip as he waits.
His phone pings a minute later.
Carlos: [11:18 PM] Yeah.
Carlos: [11:18 PM] Everything okay?
TK’s anxiety starts getting the best of him, and his mind is suddenly searching for ways out.
He aware he’s taking too long to answer when another message comes through.
Carlos: [11:22 PM] TK?
Carlos’s growing concern is palpable through his text.
TK: [11:23 PM] Sorry. Yeah, everything’s fine.
Then TK realizes he owes Carlos an explanation.
TK: [11:23 PM] I can’t sleep.
Carlos’s reply comes immediately.
Carlos: [11:23 PM] Are you home alone?
TK: [11:24 PM] Yeah. Dad’s on shift.
TK draws in a deep breath and continues to chew on his bottom lip.
TK: [11:25 PM] Can I come over?
TK’s face starts to heat up as the anxiety continues to brew in his gut, watching the three grey dots appear and disappear a few times. He’s starting to dread he’s asked for too much.
He doesn’t know where he stands with Carlos, especially when it comes to a request like this one. He’s gone to Carlos’s place multiple times before, but when the officer had asked him to come over. TK’s never asked himself and he’s worried he crossed a line.
They haven’t talked about what they are, and TK hadn’t even given Owen a straight answer when his father asked. Owen put one and one together when Carlos stood in the doorway of TK’s hospital door with tear-streaked cheeks, figuring out that there’s…something between him and his son, but even after some playful teasing from Owen’s side once TK woke up, the younger man still hadn’t given him much. He didn’t deny it, though.
The truth is, TK is falling for Carlos. And it scares him. Confusion has been his one constant feeling since he woke up in the hospital, feeling like his entire life was turned upside down. Not only was he still healing from what happened in New York, but he had absolutely no intention of starting or getting into anything until he got back on his feet when he moved to Austin.
Then Carlos Reyes strode into his life and effortlessly began tearing down the walls TK had built around himself. After attempts to run and hide and the failure of said attempts, TK let him. Because even a part of him couldn’t deny that it felt right with Carlos, it felt natural. It was a tug of war within TK, the desire to build his walls back up with cement and the desire to let Carlos in. And TK certainly didn’t expect to fall for the other man as quickly as he did.
That doesn’t change the fact that he still doesn’t know what he and Carlos are and where they stand. He felt a shift in their relationship in the couple of weeks prior to getting shot, with a lingering impression that this thing between them might be going somewhere.
Then a bullet to the chest gave TK a run for his money and halted all. It circles back to confusion for TK, about who he is, what he wants to do with his life. And all that confusion inevitably ties in with Carlos, and the nature of their relationship.
The fog of confusion had been growing more and more in the days after his hospital release, as TK began to doubt everything.
TK may not remember getting shot, but he certainly feels his life crumbling in the aftermath.
So yeah, he wasn’t exactly sure how Carlos was going to respond to his request. And he couldn’t really make an educational guess either. He knows Carlos has a kind heart and a warm soul, but everyone has lines and limits, and TK isn’t sure where inviting himself over to Carlos’s place falls on the officer’s. He prays he hadn’t crossed either.
But Carlos is safety, and TK will hold onto that for as long as he can.
TK doesn’t have to wonder about Carlos’s response for much longer because another ping brings him back from his thoughts.
Carlos: [11:26 PM] Of course. I’ll leave the front porch light on.
TK feels a weight lifted off his chest. A small smile tugs on the corner of his lips as he types back a reply.
TK: [11:26 PM] Thanks. I’ll be there in 20.
After throwing on a hoodie and sneakers, TK orders an Uber and waits outside. The car arrives in a matter of minutes, and he finds himself heading to Carlos’s in under five minutes from sending the last text. He sends a message to his father this time, telling him that he’ll be at Carlos’s place.
Carlos is wearing a black t-shirt and grey sweats when he opens the door for TK. He smiles, stepping to the side to let the firefighter in and locking the door behind him.
TK lingers close, hands stuffed into the pocket on the front of his hoodie as he shifts his weight from one foot to the other, bouncing slightly on the balls of his feet, nervous as he watches the officer.
“Would you like anything? Food or water?” Carlos asks TK once he’s sure everything is locked and the lights are turned off.
“No, thanks, I’m good,” TK replies. “Thanks for letting me come over. Sorry if it was a weird request, I just—”
“TK, it’s okay. You’re welcome here anytime, and I’m glad you reached out,” Carlos’s smile widens a little, reaching his captivating brown eyes.
TK reciprocates, albeit with a smaller smile than Carlos’s and then his eyes go a little wide when Carlos extends his hand towards him.
“I was about to get into bed,” Carlos explains, his face soft.
TK nods and takes Carlos’s hand, letting the slightly larger man lead them up the stairs. The warmth radiating from Carlos’s tough helps calm TK’s racing heart, the touch grounding him and offering comfort. The comfort he was searching for.
TK unconsciously tightens his grip on Carlos’s hand, trying to hold onto that support for as long as he could. Carlos gives him a quick look over his shoulder, and something in his features tells TK he’ll have it for as long as he wants.
They enter Carlos’s bedroom, separating their connection as the officer walks over to his preferred side of the bed. TK makes his way to the other, tipping off his shoes and removing his hoodie. Carlos pulls the duvet back, plugs his phone into the charger and climbs into bed. TK watches him for a few moments before following, crossing his legs on the mattress, sitting criss-crossed now and drops his hands into his lap.
“You okay?”
TK shrugs.
“Have you been sleeping at all since you got home from the hospital?” Carlos asks, having noticed the black bags hanging under TK’s eyes and the exhaustion written on his face.
“Few hours every night,” TK whispers.
“TK…” Carlos sighs.
“I know,” TK looks at Carlos. “But I just can’t sleep.”
Carlos’s response is interrupted by TK’s phone pinging in his pocket.
He fishes it out of his sweats and reads the new text.
“It’s from my dad,” TK says. “I told him I was coming here so he doesn’t worry.”
“And?” Carlos wonders, suddenly nervous himself about Owen’s reaction.
“He said okay and to call or text him if I need anything,” TK answers.
“He’s not surprised,” Carlos states rather than questions.
“No,” TK chuckles weakly. “He knows, about…” he makes a back and forth gesture between him and Carlos with a hand. “He kind of put one and one together. Asked me about it when I woke up. Not directly, though.”
Carlos raises an eyebrow at TK, intrigued about that conversation between father and son.
TK playfully rolls his eyes. “So, he’s been seeing this Psychology professor, head of the department actually and he didn’t mention anything before. And she was at the hospital with him when I woke up. Later I ask how long he’s been seeing her, and he said he’ll tell me when I tell him how long I’ve been seeing the cop. His words.”
Carlos winces slightly, but still a slight blush colors his cheeks. “Yeah, that’s on me. I stopped by after you were out of the surgery.” With tear-stained cheeks goes unsaid.
TK nods. “Yeah, dad mentioned. That’s how he connected the dots.”
“I’m sorry if that made it uncomfortable or anything, or if you weren’t ready for your dad to know about…I just wanted to see you. I was getting updates from Paul but it wasn’t the same,” Carlos confesses.
“No, no,” TK shakes his head. “Not at all. I get it, don’t worry about that. I…wanted you there.”
“I was just…really glad to hear your voice when you called,” Carlos expresses, his voice gentle.
TK gives him a small smile. He had called Carlos after he woke up, and the cop’s heart had soared and the fear lifted upon hearing his name tumble out of TK’s mouth once again. Perhaps his favorite time TK had said his name since they’ve known each other. Carlos stopped by the house once TK was settled in, and now is the second time they’re seeing each other since TK was sent home.
They don’t bring up their relationship status or what they are, both sensing that the other is tired and drained and it’s not really the time or place for said conversation. TK knows they’ll eventually have to talk about it, but for now, he’s satisfied just being close to Carlos. They can deal with the rest later.
“You can sleep, I don’t want to keep you up,” TK speaks. “I’ll probably be up for a while.”
Carlos shakes his head. “I’ll stay up with you. I don’t need to be up early, I have tomorrow off.”
TK gives him a grateful smile in response, happy for the company as they slip into comfortable silence.
It’s Carlos who breaks the quiet. He lifts his arm for TK while moving closer to the firefighter.
“Come here,” Carlos murmurs, an invitation which TK accepts.
TK gets closer to Carlos, and careful about his stitches, glues his side to Carlos’s. He rests his head against Carlos’s shoulder and Carlos wraps an arm around TK’s. Carlos runs his hand up and down TK’s arm, to help sooth and relax the injured man.
“So, there’s something I’ve been thinking about,” TK begins. “Since I got home. My insomnia is definitely related to what happened, falling into the pattern of it getting worse with stressful situations. I can’t remember a thing from getting shot, no nightmares or anything but I keep thinking about the kid.”
Carlos tightens his hold on TK, more instinctively than anything else. And TK’s words take him back to that night.
Carlos could immediately tell it was Judd speaking, his words echoing through the radio, the Texan firefighter’s usually steady tone laced with panic as he reported, dispatch, we have shots fired, firefighter down, I repeat firefighter down…and Carlos will never forget how his heart dropped into his stomach, his gut twisting and turning and there was no way he’d know who was down from the team, not yet, but it’s almost like he sensed it. Like he felt it. He had already driven away from the house and it took every ounce of his control to not take the first u-turn and race towards the hospital.
And when his phone had continuously vibrated in his pocket, Carlos’s heart sped up in his chest, fearing that his gut was right. The caller ID was all the confirmation he needed.
“Is he okay? He’s not…” Carlos had wasted no time after answering Paul’s call, trailing off, not even daring to utter the last word in his thought process. Because if TK was okay, he’d be the one calling him or would have sent him a text.
TK’s voice seeps into his ears and brings him back to the present, Carlos’s grasp on the younger man never faltering or loosening. He knows they both need it.
“That poor kid,” TK continues. “I can’t even imagine what he’s going through. I can’t even remember and I’m struggling with it, how heavy this must be for a little boy…”
Carlos leans in, closing the distance between them by brushing a kiss to TK’s temple. He then drops his head a little, touching his forehead to where he planted the kiss. TK leans into Carlos a little more, as much as he can without pulling at his stitches.
“I want to go see him, the kid,” TK reveals. “I think it’s going to help him, to see that I’m okay and to know that I don’t blame him.”
Carlos pulls back to watch TK, and he notices how his green eyes are glassy with unshed tears.
“That’s very thoughtful and kind, TK,” Carlos softly speaks. “I think you should, too. And I also think it’s going to help you, as well.”
TK turns to face Carlos.
“You’re healing from something you don’t remember happening,” Carlos says. “That in itself is taking a toll on you, it’s tough to deal with. But I think seeing that boy is going to help you come to terms with what happened. I think it’s going to make that weight sitting on your shoulders lighter.”
TK draws in a deep breath at Carlos’s declaration, letting his words sink in and just then realizing how much he needed to hear them.
Without a word, TK cuddles closer to Carlos, resting his head above the officer’s heart and draping an arm over his waist. He closes his eyes, taking even breaths guided by Carlos’s steady heartbeat.
“Do you think it will come back to me? That I’ll remember it?” TK asks, his voice barely above a whisper.
“Maybe,” Carlos replies. “Only time will tell.”
“I don’t want to feel this pain again if I do remember it one day,” TK swallows against his throat.
“I can’t promise that you won’t feel the pain,” Carlos admits with sadness coating his voice. “But I can promise that I’ll be right here for you. You’re not alone, TK.”
TK sniffs, a tear rolling down his cheek.
He wants to stay here and not move, engulfed in Carlos’s arms, his touch, his scent. In Carlos’s safety. In his heart.
He hears Carlos’s voice from above.
“Get some rest, TK.”
And contradictory to his earlier statement, TK is already drifting off, his mind calm and heartbeat even. He finally feels at peace.
The kiss Carlos presses to the top of his head is the last thing TK feels before falling asleep.
And for the first time since he was discharged from the hospital, TK sleeps through the night.

Not to be your stereotypical second semester senior but EJ Caswell is a bit too busy to be thinking about sports metaphors...
(Alternative title- overcommitted..sounds like a Caswell)
Senior year was insanely busy. Being so overwhelmed EJ had been slowing down over the last couple weeks, but he was brushing it off just fine.
EJ has arrived late that day, which was unusual in itself, as he prides himself on being on time. Holding a half eaten packet of Oreos he shuffled into the rehearsal room slumping on the bleachers away from his chattering cast mates.
“EJ honey great you could join us, you’d think a senior couldn’t get lost in the halls!” Miss Jenn giggled at her own joke as the cast were suddenly alerted to the older boys presence. EJ absentmindedly nodded and grabbed out his script.
“Yeah...sorry..um...where are we at?”
“Page 63” “Cool... thanks”
Flipping to that part in the script, he looks up to take in the scene. Kourtney, Gina, Seb and Carlos are clearly half way through blocking a castle scene- Carlos complaining his arms are tired from ‘staying in character’, Kourtney and Seb working out where they are going to come in from and how to negotiate Sebs big box costume (although it’s proving very difficult considering the rehearsal room is about a quarter of the size of the stage) and Gina is animatedly discussing the scene choices with Miss Jenn.
Within an instant, EJ is startled from the scene as Natalie is beside him rambling something about ‘needing a fill in for cogworth’ ‘went home sick’. Sauntering up with his script, EJ’s vision goes spotted as he gets up from the bleachers. But as soon as it comes it’s gone.
He just needs to get through this rehearsal, then he can; go home, finish his debate speech, go over the plays for Friday’s waterpolo match, study for tomorrow’s maths assessment, start his exam notes, memorise his lines, work on his college applications, and maybe even get some sleep.
Joining the cast he tries to hide in the back corner. Following the basic blocking directions seemed harder than usual, his head had began to pound and fatigue hit him like a wave.
However he continued on, sluggish but present helping them to finish blocking the scene.
Walking back to his place on the bleachers EJ trips over his own feet. Catching himself before a big splat on the floor he is able to avoid the attention of his cast mates. Well mostly.
“EJ are you ok?”
EJ didn’t need to look up to know that his cousin had definitely seen his little trip.
“Yep fine”
“Ok try again but this time make it the truth”
Ashlyn was caring but firm, she definitely wasn’t going to brush it off. EJ could feel his facade fading under her concerned gaze. His voice drops low.
“I-i just don’t know... Ash, I’m trying-“
“ON TO THE NEXT SCENE Gaston and Le Fou, I need you boys to start down stage right”
EJ got up slowly, subtly steadying himself against a chair not to lose balance.
“Nevermind it’ll be fine”
EJ walks off, with that any vulnerablity on face vanishing, leaving Ashlyn’s stomach to churn in a pool of worry.
Being an after school rehearsal, most of the cast heads off after they start rehearsing the next scene as it only has Gaston and Le Fou. Leaving the rehearsal room with just Miss Jenn, Big Red, EJ, Ashlyn and Gina (the latter two who were waiting on the senior for a ride home).
EJ and Big Red slowly work through the dialogue, the scene is about as smooth as a clunky old railway track. After running it twice EJ feels like his words are melding into one. But pushing through, based off his poor entrenched habits, EJ made it through another run through of the scene.
“Um can we take a five?”
Miss Jenn looks at the senior perplexed, he’s never asked for a five. Ever.
“EJ honey is everything ok?”
“Hm, yeah just need a sec”
EJ’s exhausation catches up with him, the light seems to highlight the bags under his eyes. He drops onto the bleachers, resting his head in his hands he closes his eyes for a second.
“Miss Jenn, EJ doesn’t look so good maybe you guys should wrap this up for today-”
“Ash I’m-“
“No. You look exhausted! You barely have the energy to stand up for 10 minutes”
Ashlyn moves to grab him his drink bottle but runs into his iced coffee and Oreo packet first. She flinches. Her cousin never drinks coffee unless he purely needs the caffeine.
EJ freezes she moment he realises she’s seen it.
“When was the last time you slept?!”
All eyes are on him.
“James” His head snapped up. But he couldn’t look his cousin in the eye. Because then she’d see his eyes are glassy with unshed tears. His overwhelmed thoughts race through his mind.
“Ok I think we’ll pick this up next rehearsal, please be safe getting home and get some rest”
The four students start to pack up their bags, Ashlyn asking her boyfriend to give them all a lift. Turning to her cousin, helps him finish packing his stuff.
“You can stay in the guest room, we’re having lasagna tonight”
EJ too tired to protest, walks past his Jeep in the parking lot to get in a smaller orange bug car. He’ll have to come back for it tomorrow because there’s no way he could drive safely in his tired state.
The car ride home was eerily quiet, Ashlyn day in the passenger seat next to Big Red. He drove to Ashlyn’s house like a routine he knew by heart. Gina keep flicking worried glances at EJ but the senior didn’t even notice, having closed his eyes and resting against the window the moment he entered the car.
“Thanks for the ride Biggie”
Gina gentley nudged EJ and his eyes were open in an instant.
“Thanks Red” He mumbled as he got out of the car.
“No worries, take care guys”
As the orange car was disappearing into the distance, Ashlyn unlocked the front door. Gina and EJ follow her into the house.
“James lets go the living room”
EJ follows Ashlyn to the couch, and Gina continues past to grab a drink of water from the kitchen.
“What’s going on?”
Ashlyn puts a hand on his shoulder and gently squeezes it, grounding him and reminding him that she’s here to listen. He looks at the faded colourful rug and his words begin to vomit out softly.
“I’m just trying to get it all done ...and um.. for weeks I just never seem to have enough time, and I still have to do my study notes and finish my assessment and college apps tonight... but I’m just so tired...”
His voice cracks and the wall behind his eyes begin to break.
“I have to stay up so late, to get everything I have to all done...and then polo practice at the crack of dawn... i don’t know.. I just can’t... let anyone down..”
Ashlyn pulls EJ in tightly. His body wracked with sobs, her heart breaks as she hasn’t seen him like this in a long time. Gina initially freezes entering the room just as the senior had begun to cry but soon shifts over beside them engulfing them both in a hug.
Grabbing some tissues and a sip of water he’s able to stop his crying but his tense shoulders give away his overwhelmed mind.
“it will be ok, we’ll work this out. Everyone else will understand if everything is not done right now. You’ve got to take better care of yourself, what matters is if you are ok”
Gina nods in agreeance with Ashlyn as she comforts EJ.
“But for now you need to take a break, just have a quick nap before dinner in the guest room-“
“But I have to-“
“No James you need a rest, all this stuff can come later”
He sluggishly gets up heading for the guest room mumbling a “thanks Ash” as he retreats to his long awaited rest.
After he closes the door, Ashlyn lets out the breath she had been holding. She was convinced they would have to put up more of a fight to get him to go to sleep, but the fact that they didn’t was almost more concerning.
“He did seem a little bit off earlier in the week but yeah I had no idea that this was under the surface”
Gina says to break the silence created by her and Ashlyn’s shocked worry.
“Yeah he’s always been pretty good at bottling this stuff up, definitely a Caswell skill”
Ashlyn starts to pick up the tissues heading to the bin in the kitchen. Both the girls enter the kitchen to finish heating up the leftover lasagna they made yesterday.
While cooking the veggies the girls trade stories of earlier in the day and discuss the spotting of Miss Jenn and Mr Mazzarra at Sliced on Valentine’s. Just as they’re plating up, EJ reappears. He looks somewhat disheveled, wearing sweats and his usually spiked hair is messy like a 2012 Bieber hairstyle. His contacts are long gone being traded for his wide framed glasses.
“Feeling any better?”
Bringing the plates to the table they all sit in their usual seats.
“Yeah a little...thanks guys this looks amazing”
As if on cue his stomach grumbles with excitement and they dig into the food. The three teens continue to tell stories of their day. Although exhausted, a goofy smile makes its way onto EJ’s face while telling the girls about his classmate in English that tried justify his argument quoting spark notes, instead of the actual book.
Once they’re finished, EJ stacks and clears away the plates. Grabbing her laptop, Ashlyn creates a new copy of one of her old timetables modified with all EJ’s stuff. After cleaning the dishes, EJ plops down beside her and together they start to work out.
Half an hour and a warm hot chocolate later, they manage to finish a schedule that looks like it fit a bit of time for everything while keeping a heathy amount of rest time.
“Thank you so much Ash... I really appreciate it”
Ashlyn smiles back at her cousin.
“Just promise me you’ll take care of yourself, or at least you’ll let me know if you need help”
EJ engulfs her in a hug.
“Yeah I will, thanks”
As they both move to join Gina in the lounge room, EJ grabs his laptop to start completing his speech. Flopping down onto the couch, the tv is turned onto a Brooklyn Nine Nine halloween heist episode.
Taking EJs laptop at 9:30, the older boy fell asleep within an instant. Keeping to his promise, he followed the schedule he made with Ashlyn (most of the time at least) and finally learnt how to ask for help when he realised he couldn’t do it alone. And when he asked for help, Ashlyn and Gina were always there with an extra mug of hot chocolate.
Thanks for reading! I’m open to write prompts or suggestions
(...Also if anyone can think of any better names for this please comment because all my thoughts were low key trash😂)

all I know is that this is where I wanna be
Tk & Owen || 1k || ao3
“Promise me this won’t be our last Christmas together” + comfort for Day 3 of @911christmasweek2020
---
TK helps Owen decorate for Christmas and asks his dad to make him a promise. Owen would love to give his son the reassurance he wants, but there are somethings even he can’t do.
Huge thanks to both @officerrxyes for reading this and putting up with me as I write and @terramous for suggesting the title.
Owen and TK give me a lot of feelings, which means you all get to read about them. This is fairly angsty but I once I saw the prompt it needed to be written. I also did one for day 5 (which got even darker, sorry) so that one will be up Friday. Enjoy!!
-----------------
“Dad, let me get that.”
“TK, I am not an invalid. And this isn’t even heavy.”
“Still, you strain yourself enough at work, you shouldn’t be doing it on your off-hours too.”
Owen threw a skeptical look at his son, “What, and leave you to get all the boxes down from the attic alone?”
“Yes! I’ll bring them down, you can start unpacking them.”
“Okay, I give!” Owen held up his hands in surrender and backed away from TK, who was rolling his eyes at his father even as he headed back up the ladder to the attic to grab the rest of the boxes.
“Have there always been this many?” he called down from the attic and Owen chuckled.
“Yes. You were usually just conveniently busy whenever it was time to take them down.”
Three trips later TK carefully set down a stack of boxes precariously balanced in his arms before stepping back and surveying the pile of boxes, “That’s the last of it and I’m starting to think that we should seriously consider parring some of this down before we pack it up again at the end of the season.”
“When did you become such a grinch?”
“I am not being a grinch, I’m trying to be practical — do we really need this many Christmas decorations?”
“Yes.”
TK rolled his eyes but Owen could see the smile threatening to form, “okay, fine. I still think it would be better if we narrowed it down just a bit.”
“But what would Christmas be without the decorations you made in first grade?” Owen asked as he pulled a lopsided reindeer ornament out of one of the boxes, holding it up to show TK.
“See now that is definitely something we don’t need,” TK lunged to grab for it but Owen pulled it away.
“Nope, sorry son; it is my sworn duty as your father to save all of your old art projects and pull them out once a year to embarrass you. I don’t make the rules.”
“Dad…”
“It’s tradition TK! Besides, I’m sure Carlos will find it adorable.”
TK groaned but turned away. He knew arguing with his father when it came to things like this was impossible — he would just wait and sneak it down later.
They continued going through the boxes and pulling out what they would need, deciding where in the new house everything should go. It certainly had a lot more space to fill than Owen’s old New York apartment had but judging by the amount of decor tumbling out of the boxes, it wouldn’t be a problem.
“Why do you even have all this stuff?” TK asked at one point, “There is no way you had room for all this in the apartment.”
Owen shrugged, “I didn’t put it all up every year. Besides, it’s mostly just accumulated stuff. Some of it was your mom’s, some of it Tracy’s. Guess they didn’t want it when they left.”
“Can’t imagine why,” TK deadpanned as he pulled out a length of sparkly pink tinsel.
“That was definitely Tracy’s,” Owen noted, “we can probably get rid of that.”
“Have you heard from her recently?”
“Not since before we left New York. Why, have you?”
TK shrugged, “Not much, a text here and there. She still makes sure to call me on my birthday every year.”
Owen smiled, “She’s good like that.”
TK returned the smile, a little sadly, “Yeah, she is. Unfortunately, I think the pink tinsel has to go. I don’t think anyone but her could pull it off.”
Owen chuckled and moved on to the next box. He paused before opening it, looking over at TK who was frowning as he pulled tangled garland out of the box before him.
“It’s nice having you here to help me with this. It’s like old times, I’ve missed this.”
TK looks away from Owen, suddenly very focused on the garland tangle in his hand, “I’m sorry for skipping out on you for the past few years. There were always...other things that I somehow managed to convince myself were more important.”
They both knew who he meant by “other things,” but Owen moved past it breezily.
“It doesn’t matter. That’s in the past and with all that has happened, I think it’s safe to say that we’ve both changed since then.”
He reached into the box before him and made a triumphant noise as he pulled out the tree topper. “I found it — ready to help me put it on?”
TK nodded and placed down the hopeless knot he had been fiddling with, crossing the room to join his dad at the tree. Owen had pulled out the step ladder and was about to climb up it when TK interrupted him, “Dad,” he said reproachfully.
“A little climb up a step ladder isn’t going to kill me, TK.”
“Best not to risk it though.”
Owen rolled his eyes, but handed over the tree topper regardless. TK took it from him and climbed up instead, carefully placing it on the top of the tree before climbing down and standing next to his dad to admire it. It was a stylized red and green fire helmet with 252 emblazoned on the front; a gift from his dad’s old crew, years and years ago.
“You know,” Owen noted, “maybe it’s time for a new one. I think 126 would look pretty good up there, what do you think?”
TK didn’t answer. Instead, he was studying Owen, watching the happiness and joy radiate from him at the simple sight of the decorated tree; of a night spent together putting it all up.
“Dad?” he asked, voice low.
Owen turned to face him, his smile dropping when he saw TK’s expression, “What is it, kid?”
“Promise me this won’t be our last Christmas together.”
Owen sucked in a breath as he noticed the tears gathering in his son’s eyes. Instead of answering he took a step closer, pulling him into a tight hug.
“You know I can’t promise that,” he said into the embrace, “no more than you can.”
There was silence for a while as the two Strand men stood in the middle of the cheerily decorated living room, clutching each other tightly. Eventually, Owen spoke again:
“But I can promise I will do everything I can to make sure that it is not. I want a lot more Christmases with you kiddo, and I am going to do everything I can to make sure that we get them.”

tk being insecure about his body hc? please make it mostly fluffy after the angst. i’m soft 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺
so .. i may have turned this into 2k words worth of a fic? enjoy!!!
you need some lovin’ (tender lovin’ care)
read on ao3
The 126 and 130 were responding to an apartment complex fire just off of West 6th Street. The blazing inferno– to everyone’s knowledge– seemed to be purposefully started. Thus, APD, and in turn Carlos, were called to the scene as well. He had to take statements from witnesses about the potential arsonist.
One thing to note: TK isn’t fond of the 130. If we’re being technical, he isn’t fond of one member in particular; Jake Matthews. Honestly, loathe is a better word. TK loathes Jake Matthews.
Jake is Carlos’ ex-boyfriend; obsessive ex-boyfriend, to be exact. Ever since he and Carlos broke it off, he’s had a personal vendetta against TK.
But, it wasn’t TK’s fault they broke up. The split happened 6 months before he and his dad even stepped foot in Austin. And yet, he was still being held accountable.
Jake and TK were complete opposites in every way imaginable. Jake was a big guy. He was well over 6 feet, probably weighed a calm 200 pounds, pretty bulky, and was hung between the legs; if the bulge that graced the front of his pants at all times was anything to go by. So sure, Jake definitely had TK beat physically according to societal standards, but mentally and emotionally? TK came first in that race.
Carlos assured him of that plenty of times before. “Baby, you’re so much better than him. I don’t even know what I saw in that guy.” He nibbled on the shell of TK’s ear and continued, “The way you treat me. Love me. Make love to me. Not to mention that impressive package between those thighs, it’s heavenly...”
TK shivered at the thought of that conversation, mainly because of the events that took place afterward. Point is, TK wasn’t worried. Carlos only had eyes for him and visa versa. Nonetheless, anytime both crews were responding to a call, Jake always had something nasty to say to TK. And for TK to claim it didn’t get under his skin in the slightest? Yeah, that would be a lie.
The worst part about it all is Jake would play coy whenever Carlos came around. Luckily, Carlos didn’t believe the sorry act for a second.
After the conflagration was extinguished, all the first responders made sure everyone was accounted for. The crews started to settle down on the side of the road, catching their breath.
“Hey TK.” TK rolled his eyes, and begrudgingly looked up at the person who was speaking to him.
“What do you want Jake?”
“How’s ‘Los?”
TK glanced to where his boyfriend was standing, “He’s fine. We’re fine.” He paused for a beat, “And don’t call him ‘Los. You guys aren’t friends anymore.”
“What’s he still doing with a pretty boy like you anyways?”, Jake sneered.
“Pretty boy? Really?”
“Did I lie, Strand? You’re not very tall. Your build is mediocre, and I’m sure the situation between your legs doesn’t satisfy your man.”
TK swallowed thickly, trying to keep his emotions at bay. He wasn’t too upset. Jake was targeting physical aspects, and for the most part, he was pretty confident in his body. Or, so he thought.
TK could recognize parts of his piece-of-shit ex Alex in Jake. The confidence he held for his physical attributes had been whittled away to mere nubs during said relationship. Wounds he thought had healed were starting to open back up. Jake and Alex were one in the same. They deserved to be together if Alex ever made his way to Austin.
He felt the blood rushing in his ears. His heart was beating a mile a minute. He wished they’d get another call. He wished someone would rescue him. He wish–
“–I remember when he and I were together, he told me he loved being manhandled. Thrown onto the bed. Hands pinned above his head.”
“You can stop,” TK interrupted, in an attempt to get Jake to shut up.
“After rough shifts I’d make love to him, feeling him all around me, knowing he was all mine. But you wouldn’t know about that would you.”
“Jake, I get it.” TK pleaded. He didn’t need to hear about Carlos’ previous sex life; let alone his fantasies that TK couldn’t fulfill. Why hadn’t Carlos mentioned any of these desires to TK? Carlos wouldn’t leave TK. He knew this but he couldn’t help but wonder if he was ever good enough for his saint of a lover.
“If we’re being brutally honest, you’re not his type at all,” he snickered. “Or maybe you are. He helps people for a living. You’re nothing but a charity case to him.”
“That’s enough.”
Carlos. That was Carlos’ voice. Carlos was here.
TK let out a shaky breath he didn’t realize was stored away. Neither of the two firefighters had noticed that he approached them.
“Jake, you can go now. You’ll be hearing from your chief by the end of this week. Let’s hope you’re not without a job for verbally assaulting another first responder”.
TK silently thanked the angels above. The tears that had welled up in his eyes finally spilled over the threshold.
“C’mere Tiger,” Carlos cooed. He wrapped TK in his arms, running a reassuring hand along his boyfriend’s back.
“I shouldn’t be crying,” he let out a wet laugh. “Sorry.”
Carlos placed a finger beneath TK’s chin, causing his boyfriend to look him in the eyes. Rubbing calming circles on his cheekbones in order to get rid of the stray tears that lingered on his face.
“Never apologize for how you feel. From what I was able to catch, Jake said some pretty disgusting things to you. He belittled you, and targeted your insecurities. I’m so sorry you had to hear that, Ty.”
Carlos sighed, “And none of what he said was true by any means. You’re not a charity case. You’re the love of my life.”
TK shrugged, still not fully convinced. He knew what Carlos meant well, and that he’d never lie to TK, but he couldn’t help the feeling of doubt threatening to swallow him whole.
“How about we get you home?”
“Can’t.” TK mumbled into his boyfriend’s shirt. “Not done with my shift.”
“I talked to your dad before heading over to you, he said it’s fine.”
The couple made their way to Carlos’ patrol car, fingers intertwined. They settled themselves into the vehicle, Carlos placed a loving hand on TK’s knee.
“Are you hungry?”
TK simply shook his head. He couldn’t speak just yet; he knew it’d just result in him crying again.
Carlos stopped at Raising Cane’s on their way home anyways. Though TK claimed not to be hungry now, that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t be later once all his worries had been washed away by some good ol’ TLC. The fact that chicken fingers were TK’s favorite comfort food was an added bonus.
They entered Carlos’ apartment and TK immediately shed all of his gear at the door. Again, Carlos engulfed the younger in a hug.
“‘Los?” TK questioned, barely above a whisper.
His partner hummed in response.
“Can we shower together?”
“Of course, love.”
They started towards the bathroom, their food abandoned on the dining room table. TK flicked on the light and began removing all his clothing. Well, almost all of it. He kept his briefs on, thinking back to what Jake had said to him.
“Ty?” Carlos asked. “What’s the matter?”
“I-, well. I-,” TK sighed in frustration. “Is my dick too small for you?”
Carlos was taken back and had to bite his lip to hold in a chuckle at his boyfriend’s brash words.
“I’m being serious!”, TK whined. His bottom lip jutting out to display his infamous pout.
“Baby, you are perfect for me in every way.”
TK crossed his arms. “You’re just saying that because you’re my boyfriend.”
“No.” Carlos started, “I’m saying that because it’s true”.
The older man began to undress as well, “And why are you asking me that?”
TK stayed silent. He wanted to tell Carlos everything Jake said, but at the same breath, he’d much rather not relive the conversation.
Carlos waited a few moments for a reply, stark naked in front of his significant other. His tan body glistening under the glow of the luminous lighting. His muscles that looked like they were painted onto his body flexing. Not to mention the member that was the icing on the cake; perfectly hung between two burly thighs. TK’s cock twitched at the sight of his boyfriend. Had he not been upset, he would’ve jumped Carlos’ bones then and there.
He sighed, “Ty. Baby, you have to tell me what’s wrong so I can fix it.”
Before he knew it, TK words were spilling out of his mouth like vomit. “Jake said that I don’t satisfy your needs. He reminisced about how you guys used to make love. Told me that you like being manhandled. You never told me you liked to be manhandled. Why didn’t you tell me? I can do it. I’ve done it. Is that what you want? I can work out a bit more, start upping my weight–”
Carlos intercepted, “–Sweetheart, breathe.” They took deep breaths together. “Now, start over, and go slower.”
“Jake basically just reminded me how different he and I are from each other. Which isn’t a bad thing, except it is? Our body types are nothing alike. I like my body; trust me, I do. I work hard to keep it this way, but I had no idea me not being super ripped made you feel like I couldn’t top in the bedroom.”
For the third time that day, Carlos enveloped the younger in a bone-crushing hug. Deft fingers ran through TK’s hair, pausing at the nape of his neck to scratch lightly. TK melted under the touch, practically turning to putty in his lover’s arms.
“Baby, have I ever said anything to make you insecure? Be honest, please.”
TK huffed, “No.” He adjusted his hands so that he was tracing random patterns onto Carlos’ back.
“That’s the worst part about it. You do everything right, and I let your jerk of an ex-boyfriend get inside my head.”
“Well, I doubt I do everything right. But I certainly do make an effort to keep you happy.”
“Babe, it's not you, I swear. Just the shit Jake said was fucked up. It made me feel bad about what I can’t do for you.”
“Can I let you in on a secret?”
“No time like the present.”
“I like taking care of you in the bedroom. I take it Jake never told you why we broke up?”
“Nah, don’t think that’s ever going to be on his agenda.”
“We split because he was too controlling”, Carlos revealed. “You know better than anyone else, I love taking care of people. So, imagine my surprise when he didn’t let me take initiative in anything. Not the bedroom. Not where we went on our dates. Not even what was for dinner.”
“But you love cooking?”
“Exactly. He didn’t even let me do what I loved most. I couldn’t take the constant nagging, and the unnecessary controlling demeanor, so I broke it off. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.”
“So you mean to tell me, he was deflecting? That whole time?”
“Yep.”
“I feel like an idiot” Tk replied, letting out a soft chuckle.
“No way you could’ve known. And Ty? You mean everything and more to me. What we have is irreplaceable. Every inch of you deserves tender loving care. From your alluring sea-green eyes to your incredible compassion.”
TK captured Carlos’ lips in a sloppy kiss. All the emotions of the day embedded in this act of affection. Between the intense licking into Carlos’ mouth, and their naked bodies pressed against each other; things were heating up, fast.
They pulled away from each other breathlessly, shallow pants exiting their lungs.
“Our food is probably ice cold by now, Tiger” Carlos said, turning the faucet to the shower, allowing the water to heat up.
“It’s fine. We can just reheat it in the air fryer.” TK replied, going in for another searing kiss.
The two stumbled into the shower, relishing in each other’s presence. The food could wait.

Mirror Mirror on the Wall
Part 5
First  -  Previous  -  Next
You woke up on your bed, the two mattresses laid on the floor and opened your eyes to see Mal. Sitting up, you looked over to your nightstand to see the letter you were supposed to send last night to Aurora. It reminded you of last night. Everything seemed to go wrong. Once you found out where the wand was with Evie's magic mirror, which her mother had surprisingly given to her before you all left, you found out it was in a library. Once you got there, there was an issue with the security guard needing to fall asleep and the door opening. Luckily it was just a few spells and another minute for you and Mal to make everyone invisible. But then it took ages to find where the wand was, it was also protected by a magic barrier which Jay just had to touch, and then the alarms went off. Luckily Carlos managed to soothe the authorities with a convincing lie, but then you also found out that the mailboxes were locked up at night for some reason. So obviously, nothing went right last night. Sighing to yourself, you got ready for school.
In Remedial Goodness 101, you spent your time taking no notes and drawing in your notebook. Mal was doing the same but was much better than you at doing realistic artwork. You, on the other hand, were better at doodles or pretty designs that you would decorate your paper with. Less realistic and more... Animated. So, while Mal was answering all the questions Fairy Godmother asked for the class, you were drawing your friends as patterns. You had Carlos as a spikey and fiery pattern of lines, Jay as smooth and masculine lines, Evie as fluid and feminine flowers, and Mal as sharp scales and fire. A girlish squeak caught your attention and you looked up from your doodling to see Fairy Godmother's daughter, Jane in an old and plain looking pastel blue outfit. Her hair was a straight bob that wasn't very flattering on her. She glanced back at you and your friends with a frightened look and handed her mother a clipboard, "Oh, hello dear one." Fairy Godmother greeted warmly.
"Hi. You need to sign off on the early dismissal for the coronation." Jane stared at you all cautiously as Fairy Godmother signed the paper. "Everyone here remembers my daughter Jane." Fairy Godmother said causally to the 'class', much to her daughter's displeasure. "Mom, no!" Jane whispered. "It's okay!" Her mother reassured her brightly, "Jane, this is everyone!" Fairy Godmother introduced, gently nudging Jane towards you five. "Hi..." Jane almost whimpered out, a frightened look on her face once again. She was surprised to see small smiles on everyone's faces, all a little different from the others. Evie's was gentle, yours was soothing, Mal's was polite, Jay's was causal, and Carlos' was friendly. She was a little confused as she passed once again, still just as quick but she didn't squeal in fright this time. The class continued with Evie and Mal making plans silently through only eye contact. Once the boys were fighting loudly on top of their desks for something you didn't care enough to pay attention to, the class was dismissed.
You went outside with Mal and Evie and after a few minutes, you broke off from them to find out how to mail the letter to Aurora. Wandering around the school, looking for a mailbox, you were surprised when a raven flew in front of you. It landed in front of you and looked around, noticing you two were alone. You looked at it oddly before it changed into Diaval. You gasped in delight and hugged him, "Diaval!! You made it through the barrier in time!" You squealed, feeling him hug you back. You both pulled away enough to look at each other and grinned at one another, "Of course! Did you think I was going to leave you all to yourselves on this journey?" He questioned, his giant grin never faltering. You laughed happily, "Thank you! And I can see you're ecstatic to be able to change into your true form now." You observed with an amused grin. Diaval just changed into his raven form and cawed loudly in what you could only guess was a delighted yell.
You laughed as he turned back and hugged you tightly, lifting you up and spinning before letting you back down. Suddenly, you got an idea, "Uncle Diaval!" You exclaimed, making a delighted and touched look come over the man's face. "Yes?" "Would you mind sending mom's letter to Aurora? It would give you a chance to fly some more. That and I really can't find a mailbox anywhere in the school to mail the letter." You paused a moment, thinking aloud, "And it would probably be a little suspicious if a VK decided to send a letter anyway..." You realized. Diaval nodded, "No problem, little one. I'll take it straight to Aurora, promise! And I will let the faeries know to expect you, your sister, friends, and your Mother soon." You smiled thankfully and watched as he turned back into a bird. You took out the letter and rolled it up before tying it to his leg. He nodded to you and flew off to deliver the letter, making you sigh happily. Now that was done, you could focus on getting the magic wand.
You checked the time on the clock tower and realized you had awhile till the bell rang and your next class began, so you went to find Mal. After looking around for a bit you spotted her purple hair by your lockers. Jogging over, you grinned, "Mal!" You called, catching her attention. She stopped spraying her locked and looked at you, smiling as she saw you and catching you in her arms as you jumped into them, hugging her tightly. "Mal!" You exclaimed happily, making her laugh. "Hey (Y/n), what's up?" Mal asked curiously, hugging you back before pulling away to look at you. You whispered excitedly, "Diaval got off the isle! He's taking Mom's letter to Aurora right now!" You were practically shaking in her arms from excitement as you told her. Mal could feel a weight lift off her shoulders and she sighed in relief, grinning brighter, "That's great! Good job sis!" She praised before hugging you again. After a moment, you both pulled away and the sight of her locker caught your attention, "Are you spray painting your logo onto your locker?" You asked curiously, looking at it closer. "Yeah, figured I might as well. Brings back a bit of home, you know?" Mal looked at the locker as well. You hummed, glancing at yours just a locker away, "Mind if I borrow some?" mal glanced at you curiously for a moment but realized quickly what you meant as you studied your blank blue locker. Smirking, Mal nudged the bag of cans towards you, "Go for it."
A few minutes before the bell rang, you and Mal packed the cans away and threw away the empty ones. Using magic, you both dried the paint so you could touch your lockers and open them to get your books for your next class. Once you both were done, you closed your locker and were shocked to see Ben standing super close to you, leaning against the lockers. You could feel the heat radiating off him against your wing and you pulled it away. "Hey." Ben greeted, his voice smooth as he stared into your eyes. You ignored a small feeling in your chest as you and Mal replied in unison, "Hey." "How was your first day?" He asked with a twinge of playfulness in his voice, glancing at Mal to let her know the question was towards her as well. You couldn't help the slight smile that came onto your face, "Great." "Super," Mal said sarcastically. He studied the lockers for a moment, Mal's decorated with 'Long Live Evil' written on a figure that looked like Mom, green flames around the whole thing. Yours looked a lot like what most people assumed magic to look like. Sparkly, ethereal, and warm. It was gold just like your magic and in the background looked to be a forest. "You know, you should really take this talent off the lockers and into art class. I could, uh, sign you two up if you want." Ben said, his eyes flicking towards Mal before landing on you once again.
Mal opened her mouth to respond before catching sight of Fairy Godmother's daughter Jane. "...Way to take all the fun out of it. See you later (Y/n)." She waited a moment for your reply before following Jane. "Oh. What about you, (Y/n)?" Ben asked, focusing all his attention on you as he awaited your response. "Sorry, I don't like being graded on my art. Makes my hobby a job, you know?" You asked, leaning against your locker, mimicking his stance. You watched a small smile creep onto his face, and he dropped his head a little, laughing quietly, "Yeah, yeah I can see that." He agreed, lifting his head once again to look at you. You felt your cheeks heat up slightly and you cleared your throat, "Uh, is that all?" You asked, stepping back to put more distance between you two. "Oh! Yeah, sorry." Ben apologized sheepishly, though he didn't seem to look all that sorry. You shifted your weight on your feet for a moment before nodding, "Okay, well I have to get to class. See you." You said, leaving before he could manage a reply. Ben stared after you with a small grin on his face before looking down to his feet, grinning wider, glancing at your locker, and turning for his back to rest against the locker fully. He leaned on them, looking out into the yard, "...Huh."

Thank you so much to fanfiction.net user DOAWOTA for asking "where is hades during this time?" You helped me out a lot, making me realize that I had a lot more story to plan out. I really appreciate questions and comments like this or even ones that are just about how you feel towards the story. To answer the question, more information about Hades and how he relates to the story and to the girls will be released gradually into the story until he is introduced. Thanks so much for the question!

Remaining Unpredictable
Requested by: @zlorac Prompt: A: Is that a threat or are you flirting with me? B: Both. Neither. A mixture of the two. I like to stay unpredictable.
Carlos De Vil x Reader (Gaston’s Daughter)
A/N: I’m sorry if this sucks omg, I was trying to make this different from all of the other Carlos x Reader imagines out there. I also didn’t proofread so there’s that but I hope you guys enjoy!
(Y/N)’s POV
Why did I agree to come here again? Oh right, to save King Ben because the other VKs lost him. I can’t necessarily blame the others 100% because King Ben can be a little ditzy and naive at times, he believes that there is good in everyone. He’s not wrong about the last part, if you dig deep enough then you’re guaranteed to find good. The people on the Isle of The Lost aren’t all bad, the parents made some bad decisions but the kids shouldn’t have to pay for it. I was the 5th person that was invited to the school with the core four, the interesting part was that I’m the daughter of Gaston.
Back on the Isle I didn’t have many friends, I liked to keep to myself. There was the Core Four and then the pirate crew which my brother had joined. They wanted to take us VKs in small doses so when they chose me, I had to leave Gil behind. Gaston was the Beast’s worst enemy so they chose me, thinking that I’d be more open to becoming an Auradon girl. I had a mission of my own just like the others, I was supposed to get the wand and put the Beast away in the process. The others wanted to get the barrier down. Somewhere along the way we all became friends, our little tight knit friend group was like a safe haven. If there was one thing about the villain kids, it’s that we’re very good at keeping secrets. Mal, Jay, and Evie had been keeping a secret about me and I was dying to find out. Carlos was as oblivious as I was.
Speaking of Carlos, the boy made me crazy. He was so sweet that it made me sick. He was the toothache that the dentist had to take care of when you ate too much candy. He was the sunshine on a cloudy day, he was like a fireplace when it was cold. My life changed ever since we came to Auradon, Carlos started growing on me. I’m not too sure how it happened but he made me feel these unknown feelings. It was hard to breath around him and I wanted to throw up. I just figured that maybe he was repulsing me, maybe getting rid of him would make me feel better, these feelings would subside. I hated when he was with Jane, she was everything that he could’ve ever hoped for. She was beautiful, smart, shy, and helpful. I was loud, ambitious, sassy, sarcastic, and caring when it came to my close friends and family, this included Carlos.
Carlos’s POV
“Are you going to help us or not?” Jay was exasperated with the fact that (Y/N) hadn’t responded yet. “Of course, you need another person who knows the Isle and who can fight.” (Y/N) ran a hand through her hair, (H/C) strands poking out from the spaces in between her fingers. She was lovely even when she was angry. “I’m coming too!” The three of us turned towards the voice and were met with Lonnie, the daughter of Mulan and Shang. She eventually convinced Jay and I with the help of (Y/N).
We made it to the Isle in matter of minutes and then ran to Mal’s hideout. “(Y/N)! What are you doing here?” Mal hugged our friend before (Y/N) said, “I’m here to help. I can take on Harry if you need me to because we all know that my brother won’t be a challenge.” Gil was a really nice guy and he was a good fighter but he was a bit dopey at times. I walked closer to (Y/N) and said, “I’ll cover you.” I was met with a sigh and an eye roll before she disappeared into the direction of the docks. I honestly couldn’t understand why she was so cold towards me. I’ve been nothing but nice to her, she makes me want to grab her and profess my love. The girl is absolutely gorgeous with her alluring eyes and lustrous hair. She was sassy and sarcastic, if I could compare the two of us to a legendary Disney couple it’d be Rapunzel and Flynn Rider. She was headstrong but always went out of her way to help people which I admired. Her hair had a coconut smell to it and her smile outdid the sun. “Carlos, we have to get going!” Evie dragged me out of the hideout and towards the docks where we’d be met with the infamous pirate crew.
(Y/N)’s POV
“Hey, hey, hey, hey! (Y/N)!” Carlos was running at an alarming speed towards the end of the docks to where I was. Before he was able to put on his breaks, he ran straight into me causing us to make a ruckus. “If you weren’t so cute, I would’ve punched you in the face 20 times by now for messing up the plan.” I grabbed the collar of his jacket and pulled him behind a bunch of barrels as we hid from the pirate crew. We hadn’t gone into the circular entrance to the ship yet and we were supposed to sneak in so we had to lay low. “Did ye hear that, Gil? I coulda sworn I heard intruders.” The one and only Harry Hook was talking to my brother and looking for Carlos and I, since we had made a scene. “Hey, (Y/N). Was what you said earlier a threat or were you flirting with me?” Carlos had an intense look on his face as he stared you down, waiting for an answer. “Both. Neither. A mixture of the two. I like to stay unpredictable.” His eyebrows scrunched up as he looked down at the ground before whispering under his breath, “I could’ve sworn that she didn’t like me.” A kick to the barrel that the two of us were hiding behind caused me to place my hand over Carlos’s mouth. Gil peeked behind the barrel to find Carlos and I in a somewhat compromising position since it was a tight space and we were trying to hide. “(Y/N)? What are you doing back on the Isle? I should tell dad, he’d love to see you!” I quickly took my left hand and covered his mouth while my right was over Carlos’s, “I know that you’re helping Uma but we really need King Ben back. You most definitely cannot tell dad that I’m back because he’d look for me and make me stay here since I didn’t get the wand 6 months ago.” Gil nodded in response before looking behind him, checking to see if Harry was gone. “Please help us? You could come back with me to Auradon! We could be the brother-sister duo that we were before and you’ll love it there. Dreams surely do come true.” Gil smiled goofily while removing my hand, “I didn’t know that my baby sister was such a dreamer. I’m only going to help you because you’re family and because Uma hasn’t been treating me nicely lately.” So we formulated a plan and all Carlos could do was watch.
Carlos’s POV
So does she like me or not? I need answers and I’m not leaving the Isle until I get them. Everyone thought that I was a pushover and a sweetheart but not today, I was going to be as stubborn as (Y/N) was. She extracted her hand from my face before leading me to the pirate ship where we met the rest of the core four. “Where were you guys? We should’ve gotten started already. Who knows what they’ve done with Ben!” Mal whined at us before marching through the entrance and then began arguing with Uma.
(Y/N) and Gil made eye contact with each other and then let their captivating eyes travel towards my being. The plan was that once Uma got the fake wand, (Y/N) would take on Harry while Gil cut King Ben out of the ropes and got him to the limo. I was supposed to watch (Y/N)’s back and throw the smoke bombs when I needed to. Next thing you know, swords are clanging against each other, people are being thrown in the water, and (Y/N) has Harry pinned on the ground. “It’s not that easy to defeat me, Lass.” Harry got up and went to knock (Y/N)’s feet from under her but I ran in between, grabbing his hook while he was distracted. “Here boy!” I yelled in Harry’s direction, causing him to stare at me with a horror stricken face before begging me not the throw it. “Fetch.” The silver hook was submerged into the water, sending Captain Hook’s son in after it.
“Why would you do something so stupid!?” All I could hear was (Y/N) yelling at me for putting myself in danger but if I didn’t then she would’ve gotten hurt. “I could’ve handled it!” She swung her sword at a female pirate, defeating her as I said, “The point is that you shouldn’t have to do everything yourself!” “I could never let you get hurt because of me! I can fight my own battles, Carlos!” I blew up, “All of you guys really need to stop treating me like I’m a lost puppy! I can protect any of you when it comes down to it. I’m not incapable of fighting and doing different kinds of things just because I’m a pushover!”
Lonnie had sent the last pirate over board while everyone else stared at me with an astonished look on their faces. (Y/N) came over and grabbed me by the arm, whispering, “We’ll talk about this later okay?” “Why later hm (Y/N)? Why can’t we talk right here and right now?” I was over everyone treating me like a little kid. If I wanted to protect (Y/N) then I should be able to do that. I love her and I don’t want her getting hurt. Her eyes began to glass over when she ran towards Gil, pulling him back through the circular entrance towards the limo. “Cmon bro. We’ve gotta go.” Jay pulled me off of the boat and into the limo.
“Get in the car, (Y/N).” I couldn’t see her but I was sure that she was shaking her head no. “I’m not going back with you guys.” “Do I have to physically pull you into the limo?” Jay asked as she hummed in disagreement “I’m not leaving my brother again.” Ben smiled and extended an invitation right then and there to Gil. “Awe man, really? Thank you so much!” He got in and sat next to Evie and (Y/N) trailed in behind him, making no eye contact with me whatsoever. I felt bad, I didn’t mean to blow up back there but I did. I should’ve just waited until we were off the ship.
Before I could fully succumb to my self wallowing, we were back at Auradon Prep. Everyone slowly trailed out of the car but I pulled (Y/N) back before she could leave back to her room. “I didn’t mean to cause a scene like that back there. You just mean a lot to me and I didn’t want you to get thrown overboard or hurt badly or anything. I just wanted to protect you because the truth is that you’re my entire world and more. I’d personally talk to Hades and see if he could help me get you back if I ever lost you. Will you plea-”
Birthday cake. That’s what her lips tasted like. They were soft and molded into mine perfectly. She let me know that I was forgiven through the kiss as she deepened it. I tangled my fingers in her hair while she cupped my face. Her thumbs traced my features while I pulled her closer.
“Hey sis, I was wondering if you could- oh sorry for interrupting I’m just gonna-” Her lips left mine cold as she pulled away, breaking the firework filled kiss. “Um, I’ll see you tomorrow, okay?” She rubbed the back of her neck before I pulled her into my warm embrace. She dug her face in the crook of my neck and made me smile. “I hope that you know that you’re mine now.” I smiled down at her when she said, “okay.” She left my embrace once again as she went to go help Gil with whatever it was that he needed help with. “You owe me $5!” Evie said as she held out her hand towards Mal. The purple haired girl huffed before slamming a $5 in Evie’s hand. They had been watching from the sidelines but I was too caught up with (Y/N) to even notice, I’m assuming that the secret was a bet about the two of us getting together. I laughed at my two friends and let a huge smile takeover my face. (Y/N) was finally mine and I had no intention of losing her.
~And just like that they lived happily ever after~

“What did I do wrong?” You mumbled, your voice hoarse.
“You didn’t do anything wrong, sweetie” Audrey sighed. You had been crying for the past two hours and your head was starting to pound, making everything ten times worse. You hadn’t bothered to change out of your uniform and you were wrapped up in a blanket between Chad and Audrey. Neither one of them had left your side since the whole incident. And for that you were grateful. A knock on the door resonated through the room, interrupting the movie none of you had been paying attention to. You were trying to figure out where you went wrong, there must have been a reason Ben would just leave you like that. Audrey was trying to figure out the best way to get revenge, your now ex-boyfriend had humiliated you and in front of the entire school no less. Chad was figuring out the best way to kick ass and who’s to kick exactly, punching a girl wasn’t gentleman like at all and so he settled for hunting down the person who hurt his baby sister the most, Ben.
Audrey was the one who left your side to answer the door. She didn’t say anything when she saw who was on the other side of it.
“Um,” Evie didn’t know what to say. There wasn’t a situation where she found herself standing in front of Audrey voluntarily. But now there she was along with Jay and Carlos. “W-we just wanted to check on Y/N. See how she’s doing”
“She’s fine,” Audrey said, short and final. “Now if you excuse us” She was about to shut the door when Jay stopped it.
“We want to talk to her,” He ordered more than anything else. None of them felt good about what they had done, that much was clear. “Please”
It was the ‘please’ that made Audrey sigh and let them in. You quickly stood up from the bed when you saw who it was. You wiped away the last of your tears and hoped that your face wasn’t too tear stained. You sniffled and glared at the streaks of makeup that had come off from your face and onto your hands now.
“Hi,” You said quickly. “Sorry, I’m a mess”
“Don’t worry about it” Evie shook her head quickly stopping your rapid movements to look presentable.
“Can we get a minute alone?” Carlos said when he noticed Chad and Audrey watching them carefully. He waited until they had left the room to walk over to you. “I, uh, I’m not very good at these but you look like you could use one right now” He said softly before wrapping you in a hug. You had to shut your eyes tight to keep from crying again.
“Thank you,” You said, wincing when your voice cracked. “Did you need anything? I can do my best to help if-”
“No,” Jay cut you off mid sentence. “No, it's fine,” He reassured you. A look passed between him and Evie and Carlos, one of regret. Even now after what had just happened you treated them no different. “We just wanted to make sure you were...okay”
You crossed your arms and shook your head, chuckling humorlessly. “Honestly I’m not,” You admitted to them. “But I’ll get there” You added quickly when they looked away from you.
“Just out of curiosity,” For a couple seconds Carlos debated whether or not to ask his question. He decided to do it despite his better judgment. “How long were you and Ben dating?”
You couldn’t deny that the question hurt. You hoped desperately that it didn’t show. The softened look on their faces told you otherwise. “Well we’ve known each other since we were kids but we’ve been dating for just over a year and a half,” You paused for a second before shakily speaking again. “We had been anyway”
They watched as you shut your eyes tightly and sighed. “That’s a long time,” Evie said softly, wishing that she never agreed to the love spell in the first place. “You seemed so happy”
“I guess you never really know anyone as well as you think, right?” You tried smiling but found that you couldn’t.
“We’ll leave you alone. It’s getting late” Jay knew that they had to get out of there before you got any more upset and before any of them let anything spill.
“Yeah,” You nodded quickly walking with them to the door. “I’ll see you all tomorrow”
Chad and Audrey almost fell into the room when Carlos opened the door. They were about to walk away when you stopped them. “Wait,” When they turned you reached for your hand slowly pulling off Ben’s ring. You had forgotten you still had it. You were so used to seeing it on your finger that now that it was off it looked odd. “Can I ask you for a favor?” You said cautiously as you twirled the ring around in your hands.
“Anything” Evie nodded, turning back towards you.
“Can you give this to B-” You stopped short, hesitating to say his name. “To Ben” You finally mumbled and placed the ring in her hand. You looked up to see her nod slightly.
“I'll do that” She said before quickly walking away.
“Sweetie if you don't feel like going to classes then don't go. I'll cover for you” Audrey said. You were fixing your makeup in the mirror of your vanity, trying to look as flawless as possible.
“You know as well as I do what they'll all say if I don't go” You sighed. No doubt would everyone in school be talking but so would the reporters that hung around. It simply wasn't an option to skip school. The only thing you could do was put on a brave face and plaster on a smile while you attended your classes. And that was exactly your plan.
“Well in that case you’ll need different clothes” She sighed before smiling at you through the reflection in the mirror and then disappearing to rummage through your closet.
***
It was your last class of the day and you had been successful in avoiding most of the prying eyes and questions. There was the group of reporters that had practically ambushed you on your way in from that morning's practice but they were easily sent off when Chad threatened them. He and Audrey also made sure to give whoever looked at you the wrong way for too long their signature glares. The entire day you had been walking around with a smile as always, it was convincing enough that some people began wondering if anything had happened at all. It wasn’t until lunch that you lost your composure for just a few minutes. You had been staring too long at where Evie, Carlos, and Jay were sitting, two people very obviously absent.
“Sweetie,” Audrey’s voice brought your attention back to your own table. “You know all those songs we listen to?”
“Your so called ‘femme fatale’ playlist?” You said with a small smirk.
“Exactly!” Audrey laughed. “I mean this in the nicest way possible but you're giving off Get Back vibes,” You had to roll your eyes at her statement. “You should be giving off Sorry Not Sorry vibes. You’re a Charming for crying out loud. And you should never let anyone see that they got to you. Make them see that this princess bows to no one”
***
“I bow to no one,” You mumbled to yourself as you walked alongside Chad. The two of you were recruited to sing for Family Day that weekend. You had been repeating what Audrey had told you to yourself when you realized that this practice was going to be the first time you had to actually speak to Ben in two days.
“You sure you’re okay for this?” Chad looked at you concerned. “I mean you are talking to yourself. You can plead temporary insanity and get out of it”
You glared in his direction and punched his arm making him in turn glare at you. “Even if I wanted to go with your dumb excuse I can’t. I was roped into doing the choreography, remember?”
“Sucks to be you then,” Chad shrugged easily as the two of you walked into one of the practice rooms where everyone else already was. “I just have to look good”
“That’s gonna be hard then, won’t it?” You shot back easily before walking away, leaving him to think about what you had just said. You laughed when a few seconds later he shouted out ‘hey’.
“Guess we can get started now,” Ben said as he walked to the front of the room. You were standing in between Audrey and Lonnie, none of you really paying attention as Ben was talking.
“Can you believe him?” Audrey scoffed with a roll of her eyes. “He’s acting like everything’s fine”
“I think he thinks it is,” Lonnie agreed with Audrey. “It’s kind of disturbing. You’d think he’d be at least a little more considerate”
“I just want to get out of here as quickly as possible” You said to them. You weren’t exactly in the mood to plan out an entire routine with the one person you were trying to avoid.
“You know, I heard that he and-”
“Ladies,” Ben cut off your conversation without hesitation. “What do you think?” He walked over and stood right in front of you. His smile came easily when he looked at you but it faltered when you didn’t return it. Your face was still, refusing to give him any reaction at all.
“Sounds great,” Audrey said with a fake smile on her face. Ben looked away from you and at her before nodding a little.
“Alright then,” He said after a few seconds, glancing back and forth from you to everyone else. While everyone else was working on the song Ben was trying to piece together thoughts in his head. Everything was blurred together but occasionally he’d remember something. And almost every time that something had to do with you.
That night Ben sat in his room, headphones in with music blasting through them. He was staring at the words in the textbook in front of him, not actually processing any of the information. He was more focused on the words in the song that had come on.
Met this girl when I was three years old we were holding hands tight so I'm told
His pencil dropped from his hand as he listened intently. Those words meant something to him, but why?
Cause I knew back when if we get too close when the time is right maybe I'll propose baby climb on up, show me the ropes
And then he realized why he knew every word. Why the song meant something. It’s our song. He remembered the first time the two of you heard it, it was playing in the background the night of your first date.
Darling I want all the strings attached I love it when you look at me like that and you're the only girl that brings me back cause baby I want all the strings attached
He remembered the feeling that overcame him when he looked at you. There was only one way to describe it. But he couldn’t tell you, not yet.
It's like always and forever, I won't let a moment pass and when I'm with you I feel better I want all the strings attached
It came on again the night he told you he loved you. He had gone silent and when you looked at him it spilled out. I love you. After that he couldn’t stop telling you so.
And baby when you fall down, I fall too. And if you get lost, then I'll get lost with you. And when the waves crash down then baby I won't move cause I need all the strings attached
Those memories disappeared as soon as they showed up. Ben’s mind was left blank again once the song had ended. Slowly he stood up and threw his things aside, knowing exactly where it was he needed to go.
It was almost midnight when a knock sounded at your door. You and Audrey locked eyes, both of you equally confused.
“Should we open it?” She asked as set down another gossip magazine.
Another knock at the door gave you your answer. “We don’t have much of a choice, do we?” You said as you stood up. You walked to the door and slowly pulled it open. When you saw who it was your face fell.
“H-Hi,” Ben stuttered when he saw you. You didn’t say anything to him at all. You simply stared, it was the first time he had voluntarily come to see you. No classes, or practices, just you and him. Sort of.
“What do you want Ben” You finally managed to say. It was when you said his name that Audrey looked up. She was about to walk over when you held up your hand making her stay in place. She sighed before settling for watching from her bed.
“I, uh,” He looked confused as he searched for what to say. “I was listening to music,” He looked away from the floor and at you instead. “Our song came on and I needed to talk to you after hearing it”
“Please don’t,” You shook your head. “Don’t act like everything is going to be okay, Ben”
“But Y/N-”
“No!” You tried not to yell too loud. “No buts, okay?” You scoffed as you crossed your arms in front of you. “You’re the one who broke up with me. Not only that, I was humiliated. In front of our friends, in front of the entire school!” You kept on going, not letting him get a word in. “You’ve known me for years and you know that I don’t care what people say. But you haven’t heard what people are saying now”
It was silent for a few seconds before either of you said anything. “I’m sorry,” He tried to reach for you and frowned when you took a step backwards.
“Don’t tell me that you’re sorry” You refused to look at him when you felt the sting in your eyes and the feeling of tears, all previous reservations going out the window. You knew he could see you crying and yet you refused to back down. Ben’s face softened but he knew better than to reach for you again. Instead you took in a shaky breath before looking up at him again. “Did you ever love me?”
Your words took him by surprise. He was shocked that you’d even ask such a question. “Of course I did. I still-”
“Then leave” You cut him off before he could continue. You didn’t want to hear it. “If you ever loved me at all then you’ll leave right now and you won’t come back”
“Y/N,” He sounded broken. That was the only way to describe it. He didn’t know what he was expecting when he decided to come see you. But it for sure wasn’t that.
“Leave” You repeated, your voice cracking in the process. That time Ben didn’t argue. You closed the door and for a second refused to move. You wanted more than anything for him to put up a bigger fight. But your situation was different than his. You were heartbroken whereas he was still happy only with someone else. The smallest part of you resented him for that.
You didn’t have a chance to walk away before your door opened again. When you turned Ben was standing in the doorway looking more determined than ever. He didn’t say anything. Instead he took your face in his hands and kissed you. You hated that you melted against his touch so easily. Your lips moved in sync for a few seconds before you came to your senses. It took everything you had to push Ben away.
“I said leave,” You were breathing heavily, mind still spinning from the kiss. The look in your eyes betrayed what you were trying to say. You held the door open for him and waited for him to go, all while refusing to look at him again. Ben looked confused more than anything but eventually he did leave. He looked back just in time to see your door close behind him and the lock click.
It wasn’t until he looked up that he saw Evie watching, her arms filled with bundles of different materials and her expression shocked. Evie could see how confused he looked. She had seen and heard everything. Ben’s voice came out shaky when he spoke.
“What did I do?”

I’ll be your crying shoulder - Jayvie
Prompted by @angelinasalvatoreblog:  Evie meets with Snow White (who has been so nice to her) and his son. He is so mean to her that it makes her cry and she runs away. Jay finds out and threatens Snow White’s son to apologize, resulting in a cute Jay & Evie moment.
And you got: 2k of fluff! This is unbetaed and it’s way past my bedtime so I apologize for any typos or mistakes (friendly reminder that English isn’t my first language). I hope you’ll like it!
“Yes, of course. I’ll meet you after your R.O.A.R. practice anyway-“  Evie trailed off as she saw the newcomers in Alice’s older sister tearoom. “Sorry Jay, they’re here, I’ll call you back later okay?” She waited for his answer before hanging up and smiled widely at the woman and her son who just entered the shop before she got up to greet them.
“Evie!” The dark-haired woman exclaimed as she hugged her. “Such a pleasure to see you again!” She took a step back and glanced at the younger girl’s outfit. “You look amazing, as usual!”
“Aww thank you Snow! You’re too sweet,” said Evie before she took the time to look at the princess’ outfit more closely. “You need to tell me all about the material you used for this dress, it looks fancy, but without being overly uncomfortable.”
“How did you know?” Snow White smiled at Evie’s expertise. She took a step on the side then and Evie finally got a closer look at the person accompanying the famous journalist.
“Oh! And let me introduce you to my son, Blake.”
Snow White’s smile was proud as the young prince, who might have been around the age of Dizzy and was a spitting image of his mother with his dark hair and fair skin, took a step forward and eyed the blue-haired girl warily.
“Hi…” He wouldn’t even meet Evie’s eyes, which made a frown. She looked up at Snow who just shrugged.
“Teenagers…you know better than me how they can be…” Snow White winked at Evie and she sat down at the table where Evie was already settled. Blake sat down as well, as far away as possible as Evie, who tried her best not to be upset by his behavior. She simply didn’t feel at ease when people disliked her, which seemed to be the case with the little prince. And the worst was, she didn’t even know why.
Alice came around to their table a few moments later and they all ordered some drinks. As Alice left to prepare them, Blake eyed Evie suspiciously once again. Unable to hold her tongue any longer, Evie spoke up softly, trying her best to keep a smile on her face.
“Is something wrong, Blake?”
“I’m going to be watching you closely. That’s the only reason why I came-“
“Ugh, here we go again…” Snow White interrupted her son with a sigh. “Blake, you need to stop with this nonsense! I already told you Evie was an Auradon girl.” She shrugged at Evie’s confused expression.
“He’s convinced you want to get back to me for stranding your mother on the Isle with all the other villains…” Snow White bit her lip, embarrassed by the situation.
Evie was taken aback by the revelation, though now she understood why Blake hadn’t stopped glaring at her since they met. Even if the boy was small, he could certainly hold a threatening look. She chuckled nervously.
“You have nothing to worry about Blake, I’m one of the good ones. Actually, most of us aren’t like our parents, as you may have realized-“
“I don’t care! Your mother tried to carve my mom’s heart out of her chest! She tried to crush her with a giant rock! And I bet you’re scheming something too!” Evie’s eyes went wide at the prince’s outburst and it seemed that Snow White was too flabbergasted to intervene.
“I don’t trust you! I bet you invited us here so you could poison mom’s tea or something!” He pointed at Alice who was bringing a tray with their drinks.
“So you can kill her and be the fairest of them all. Because you’re not a princess and never will be.” The last accusation was a low blow for Evie and she barely saw Snow White stood up and told her son off. It was all a blur from then, as tears filled her eyes and the echo of Blake’s words rang out in her head. She was aware that Snow White was apologizing to her for her son’s attitude but Evie couldn’t make out the words. She shook her head as the tears began to fall and she excused herself before running off and out of the tearoom.
She only realized she was heading to Jay’s dorm once she reached the boys’ corridor. He wouldn’t be here anyway, she knew it. But still, she didn’t want to see anyone at the moment anyway so she sneaked in with the key Chad made a few months ago and which the boys had finally managed to confiscate. Their bedroom was empty, just as she thought and she simply took her shoes off before throwing herself on Jay’s bed and burying her head in his pillow. She thought the smell of him would calm her down but instead, her sobs only grew louder.
Jay was concerned. He hadn’t heard from Evie since she called him earlier today and she’d told him she would text him as soon as she was done with her meeting with Snow White. That was almost four hours ago. And she should have met him after his R.O.A.R. practice. She would have texted him if she wasn’t able to make it. He had tried calling her as soon as he was out and when he saw she hadn’t replied to any of his texts but her phone went straight on voicemail. He was quite tempted to kick something. That behavior was unlike Evie. Of course, he had texted Mal on his way back to his dorm but she hadn’t heard from the blue-haired girl either.
He went to his room to drop his bag, determined to go back out and look for her when he spotted a lump on his bed. He switched on the light and let out a relieved breath. He immediately frowned when he didn’t see her move though and got closer to the bed. Once he got a better look at her face, he noticed she was asleep and a small smile crept on his face, until he noticed the puffiness of her eyes. He slowly sat down next to her and brushed a strand of her hair out of her face. He had no idea what happened but something told him it was bad.
He hadn’t meant to wake her up but at the feel of him, her eyelids fluttered and he recognized the telltale signs of awakening as she stirred. He waited until her vision cleared and a small smile graced her face when she realized he was there.
“Hey…”
“Hey.” She replied back but even though she was still somewhat smiling, the sadness in her eyes was calling out to him.
“What happened Evie?” He asked as she sat up while he brushed another strand of hair behind her ear.
With a sigh, Evie resigned to tell him what happened at Alice’s tearoom. However, even though she tried to act as if she hadn’t been that affected by the incident, Jay knew better. At the end of her retelling, he was fuming. But it was too late to do anything tonight so he handed her a pair of sweatpants and a tourney shirt so she would be more comfortable to sleep.
“Thanks Jay.” She said, while taking the clothes from him and heading to the bathroom. “Of course, princess.” The sad smile she sent him broke his heart. And he knew he had to do something about what happened, as soon as possible.
After a good night’s sleep, Evie was feeling better. Being cuddled in Jay’s arms helped a lot and everything looked better with the light of a new day. She woke him up with light kisses all over his face and they only separated when Carlos, who had snuck back in later last night from Jane’s room, started to groan at the sound. “Guys, I’m here so please keep it PG.”
Evie and Jay both laughed at his comment and resolved to get out of bed before Mal bursted into the room, searching for her missing roommate-even though Jay had texted her once he found Evie.
It was only a few hours later, when they were all gathered in the Auradon Prep park, that Evie got reminded of the previous day’s occurrence. Blake was walking towards them and she frowned, unconsciously wincing as he made his way to them.
But contrary to the day before, he didn’t look wary or angry, but rather embarrassed. It was only when she noticed Blake glancing at Jay with fear in his eyes that she understood. But before she could ask her friend what it was about, the little prince reached them and spoke up.
“I- I’m sorry about yesterday, Evie. Truly.” His voice was tremulous and he couldn’t meet his eyes but still, something told Evie that he was being sincere. “It’s just- I love my mom. She means everything to me and I just want to protect her! But everything I said was unfair to you. I realize now that you had nothing to do what anything that happened to my mother before so once again, I want to apologize.”
Finally, Blake’s gaze rose from the floor to meet her eyes. Tears were gleaming in them and it took Evie a lot not to start crying again too. At that moment, she felt Jay took her hand in his and she squeezed it lightly in thanks.
“I know what I said was awful but I still hope you can forgive me and maybe, we can be friends?” the boy asked timidly and Evie’s eyes shone with the joyful turn of event.
“Of course.” She answered softly and took a step toward Blake. For a moment she thought he would recoil, but he didn’t so Evie went for it and hugged him. It didn’t take long for Blake to hug her back and she felt him quivering as he let out a few more tears, apologizing again for his words.
“It’s okay, it’s okay.” Evie tried her best to comfort him, still stunned by this new turn of events. She wondered what made him change his mind so fast. But then she met Jay’s gaze over the boy’s shoulder and realization hit her.
Blake took his leave a few moments later, after Evie and him agreed to meet sometimes but she didn’t broach the subject with Jay until much later that night, when she was ready for bed.
Jay could feel her questions coming so he settled down, his back leaning against the headboard of his bed and he gestured for Evie to join him. Once she was snuggled up against him with his arm around her shoulder, he confessed.
“I didn’t threaten him, I swear-“
“No, I know.” Evie interrupted him. “I could see it in your eyes.” She smiled tenderly at him as his eyebrow rose questioningly.
“You were almost as misty-eyed as I was when he apologized…”
“I just- I wanted an explanation, from him. So when I said I was meeting Lonnie earlier, I actually-”
“- went to talk to him? Yeah, I figured.” Evie chuckled. “What would I do without my dear knight in shining armour?”
Jay shook his head, a smile on his face. “You’d be just fine. He’d probably have apologized anyway… I mean have you seen how guilty he looked?”
Evie shrugged. “Still, thank you.” Her voice was full of fondness and she pressed her lips ardently against his.
“Anytime, princess.”
She barely heard his response when he broke their kiss, too caught up in him and his unwavering love for her, but did she really need to, to know how much she meant to him?
